How to Choose a Mini Laptop

If you are ready to run out and buy a mini laptop, then this article is for you. Do not hand over your hard-earned money without first doing your research! There are several important factors to consider before choosing your new mini.

What will you be using your new laptop for? Are you a student looking for something portable to bring to class to take notes on, or a graphic designer who must be able to run heavy duty graphical editing programs and have a bunch of open graphics on the screen at the same time? If you are looking for gaming or graphic design, you will need a powerful processor, at least 1 GB of memory, and a very large hard drive. If you are the student or executive who is looking for web browsing and Microsoft Office, you won’t need as much computer as the graphic artist. Different jobs calls for different requirements when choosing your mini laptop, so don’t buy before you lay out what you are looking for in a mini.

The whole reason for getting a mini laptop, other than the reduced price, is for portability. If you don’t plan on hanging around a power source all day, then plan on spending the extra $50 for the powerful battery. Especially if you are planning on doing a lot of traveling with the netbook, the battery is a great place to invest a few extra bucks. There is nothing worse than being stuck on a plane with many hours to go on your flight, and no battery left on your only salvation.

Screen size is very important to look at when purchasing a new mini laptop. Who wants to have to scroll back and forth to see a web page? If you get a screen of at least 8.9 inches, your mini will be able to display a web page without having to scroll left and right to see the whole width of the page.

Keyboard comfort is a very important factor when choosing your mini laptop. Do you prefer raised keys or flat keys? Do you have large hands? If so, you probably need to find a keyboard that is as close to full-size as you can get. Being comfortable on your new mini is so important. You don’t want to buy your mini laptop and find that you are constantly making typos or are getting wrist cramps due to the keyboard not fitting you properly.
